Can you look up a Discord user by username?

No. Discord does not offer a public search by username, and no third-party site can do it either. A username only works inside Discord, when you send a friend request or share a server with that person.

What you can look up is a user ID. If you can see the person anywhere in Discord, you can copy their ID in a few seconds and paste it here.

How to find a Discord user ID

A user ID is a 17 to 20 digit number. Every account has one, and it never changes, even when the username does.

On desktop

  1. Open Discord and go to User Settings, then Advanced.
  2. Turn on Developer Mode.
  3. Right-click the person’s name or avatar anywhere in Discord.
  4. Choose Copy User ID, then paste it into the box above.

On mobile

  1. Open Discord, tap your avatar, then open Settings and Advanced.
  2. Turn on Developer Mode.
  3. Open the person’s profile and tap the three dots in the corner.
  4. Tap Copy User ID, then paste it into the box above.

What a lookup shows

  • The exact date and time the account was created, and its age today.
  • The current username and display name.
  • The avatar and banner at full size, if the account has them.
  • Public badges, such as Active Developer or HypeSquad.
  • Whether the account is a bot.

What it cannot show

Email addresses, IP addresses, messages, friends, servers and anything else private stay private. This tool only reads what Discord already makes public for every account.

Questions

Is it safe to share a Discord user ID?

Yes. A user ID is public information. Anyone who shares a server with you can copy it. It cannot be used to log in to an account.

Does the person know I looked them up?

No. Discord does not notify anyone when their public profile is read.

Why does the result say the user was not found?

The creation date always works, because it is stored inside the ID itself. If the profile is missing, the account was deleted or the number is not a real user ID.
